Loquacious Creatives: Theatre is a Weapon

ABOUT US

At its heart, Loquacious is about building a vibrant, inclusive community. We want to break down the barriers between the stage and the seats, fostering a sense of belonging and collaboration.

Imagine a space where everyone feels welcome to explore their creativity, share their stories, and engage in meaningful dialogue, regardless of their background, abilities, or neurodiversity. Whether you identify with the challenges of BPD, ADHD, or any other lived experience, Loquacious is a place where you can find connection and understanding. That's the spirit of Loquacious.

Our mission extends beyond the stage, offering workshops and events that foster creativity and build community. We strive to create an inclusive space where everyone feels welcome, where audiences feel seen and heard, and where the magic of theatre reminds us that we are not alone.

Theatre is a Weapon

We're deeply inspired by Augusto Boal's vision of theatre as a tool for empowerment and social change. He believed that theatre should be accessible to all, a space where everyone has a voice and can participate in shaping their own narratives.

Boal said, "Theatre is a weapon, and it is the people who should wield it." At Loquacious, we want to put that weapon in your hands. We want to create theatre that empowers individuals, fosters critical thinking, and inspires action.

We envision workshops that encourage collaboration, spark dialogue, and provide a platform for marginalized voices to be heard. We want to create a space where everyone feels safe to experiment, take risks, and discover the transformative power of theatre.

MEET THE TEAM

Loquacious is a Brisbane theatre company creating new work for social change. We champion inclusive community theatre and bold, purposeful art. Loquacious Creatives acknowledge the country on which we work and the traditional custodians of this land – the Turrbal and Jagera people. We pay our respects to their Elders past and present. We honour the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people whose lands, winds and waters we all now share and their ancient and enduring cultures. We acknowledge the First Nations peoples as the first storytellers on this land.
